THE Iron-Clad Truth:

Our reputation is as solid as the pipe we represent.

The Cast Iron Soil Pipe Institute (CISPI) was organized in 1949 by the leading American manufacturers of cast iron soil pipe and fittings. Our goal from Day One has been to improve the plumbing industry and raise the bar on the quality of products available to it.

Through a program of research and the cooperative effort of soil pipe manufacturers, we work to continually improve the industry’s products, achieve standardization of cast iron soil pipe and fittings, and provide a continuous program of product testing, evaluation and development. Since the founding of the Institute, member firms have standardized soil pipe and fittings and have introduced a number of new products.

Assurance that pipe and fittings meet the approved standards and tolerances of the Institute is provided either by the Cast Iron Soil Pipe Institute (CISPI) or the CI NO-HUB® trademarks, which are the collective marks all member companies may place on their products.

All too often, the perceived cost advantages of plastic over cast iron are not what they seem. This brochure will help it all make sense, by comparing six areas that can add cost and complexity: fire resistive construction, crush and deflection underground, thermal expansion/contraction, sound attenuation, green building and the importance of manufacturing standards.
